The brief

A young family in a newer home with nothing on the roof. They were sick of rising power bills and didn't want to do solar now and battery later and pay for two lots of work.

They wanted it done once, done properly, with room to grow.

We installed 6.6kW of panels, a 10kVA hybrid inverter and 16.64kWh of battery storage in one go.

Why we did it this way

The thinking

Doing solar and battery together means one install, one lot of paperwork and both rebates sorted at the same time.

We went with a 10kVA inverter instead of the smallest one that would fit. It costs a little more today, but there's room to add more panels or battery as the family grows, without replacing the inverter.

Redtail Energy was founded by Matthew, a Perth-based electrician who spent years working across some of WA's most respected solar businesses before deciding it was time to do things on his own terms.

Having worked at every level of the industry, from boots-on-the-roof installs through to operations and sales, Matthew saw firsthand how often quality gets traded away in the race to the bottom on price.
