Federal Incentives

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

From 1 July 2025, the Federal Government introduced an upfront rebate on eligible home battery systems. The rebate is delivered as a discount at the point of installation — similar to how solar STCs work, so you don't need to chase anything after the fact.

  • Available for battery systems between 5 kWh and 100 kWh
  • Must be installed alongside a new or existing solar system
  • Rebate value decreases gradually each year through to 2030 — so earlier is better
  • System must be installed by an approved installer

Federal Solar Rebate, Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)

When you install a new solar system, you're eligible for an upfront discount through the Federal Government's Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The value depends on your system size, location and the year of installation. Redtail Energy assigns the STCs as part of every solar installation, the saving comes straight off your quote.

  • Applies to residential and small business systems up to 100 kW
  • Rebate reduces each year until the scheme wraps up in 2030
  • The sooner you install, the more you save

WA State Incentives

WA Residential Battery Scheme

On top of the Federal rebate, WA households can access additional support through the State Government's Residential Battery Scheme. This runs alongside the Federal program — meaning you can stack both.

Battery rebates:

  • Synergy customers: $130 per kWh, capped at $1,300
  • Horizon Power customers: $380 per kWh, capped at $3,800

No-interest loans:

  • Up to $10,000 for eligible households
  • Repayment terms up to 10 years
  • Available to households with a combined annual income under $210,000
  • Subject to assessment and approval

To access the rebate and/or loan, your battery needs to be VPP-capable and installed by an accredited vendor. Redtail Energy is listed, we take care of the paperwork end to end.

Matt didn't try to sell us the biggest system on the market, he sized it to what we actually use. The install was clean, the rebate paperwork was handled, and twelve months in it's producing exactly what he said it would.
