What they asked for

The brief

The owners had a 6.6kW system that had been on the roof for a few years. Their bill had crept back up, and they could see they were exporting most of their solar during the day while they were out at work.

They asked whether a battery would actually make a difference, or whether they needed to start again with new panels.

What we installed

Our solution

No need to start again. We kept their 6.6kW of panels and added 27.8kWh of battery storage, mounted down the side of the house under an awning, out of the weather and clear of the walkway.

Why we did it this way

The thinking

Their panels were working fine. The problem was timing: power made at lunch, power used at night. A battery fixes exactly that.

Adding to what they already had cost far less than a whole new system, and with the federal battery rebate it was a much easier decision.

Redtail Energy was founded by Matthew, a Perth-based electrician who spent years working across some of WA's most respected solar businesses before deciding it was time to do things on his own terms.
