What they asked for

The brief

The family already had 15kW of panels on the roof, but most of what they made in the middle of the day was going back to the grid for a few cents. The bills came at night, when the air-con, cooking and pool pump all kicked in.

They wanted to use their own power after dark and keep the lights on when the street loses power.

What we installed

Our solution

We kept the existing 15kW of panels and fitted a GoodWe 10kVA hybrid inverter with 50kWh of battery storage in the garage, with backup set up for the house.

Why we did it this way

The thinking

A big solar system with nowhere to store it is wasted money. 15kW of panels has the grunt to refill a large battery most days, so the house runs on its own power well into the night.

Reusing the panels already on the roof kept the cost down, and the 10kVA hybrid inverter runs the panels, battery and backup from one box.

Redtail Energy was founded by Matthew, a Perth-based electrician who spent years working across some of WA's most respected solar businesses before deciding it was time to do things on his own terms.
